The 88 class from the Montreal Locomotive Works were a lighter version of the almost contemporary 92 class found in Kenya and less powerful. By 8th September 2001, their reliability was such that they worked the passenger trains in pairs.... 8820 is the lead locomotive as they back down into Dar station. (RD)
