Undoubtedly the last 'working' steam locomotive on the East African Railways was 2927 'Suk' resurrected from derelict condition primarily to work excursions. On 9th September 2001, 2927 was in use at Ilala yard with a train which included the Morogoro breakdown crane being used to retrieve a fuel tanker. (RD)
