The 26 class 2-8-2 were a post-Second World War development of the 25 class and hence carried Giesl ejectors. They were built by Bagnall and Vulcan Foundry. 2611 at Tabora in January 1968 carries its TBR shed plate. The last locomotive which had been through Dar works was always reserved for the mail train.
