Bloxham Steam and Country Fair, (27th - 28th June, 2026) |

This is one of a series of pages I have uploaded to illustrate facets of the steam rallies we have attended in the UK. Click here for the 2026 introduction and overall index. Bloxham 2025 had been a revelation. The organisers finally got their act together, turned out 48 road steam engines with a full supporting cast of ring events etc. and this time they were promising more than 50. Naturally I was looking forward to the follow up show, coming immediately after a personally successful visit to Ashby Magna the previous week. We attended on the first day, again the organisers had suggested (I wouldn't risk saying 'promised') around 50 engines, again they fell short. This time, if they wanted it, they would have had an excuse as the area had been more than warm for most of the week before and the day itself was sufficiently hot that the horses and dogs were kept at home. It probably reduced the crowd too and Yuehong spent most of the day wisely sitting on one of our chairs under a tree. There was a fair amount of cloud around, at times it was pretty bright but conditions were not perfect for photography all day until we left around 16.00. In any case it's midsummer and peak sun is now as high as it gets in this country. Throw in the high temperatures and it's small wonder that I was less than satisfied with my photographic record. Again the organisers had worked hard to bring in several engines which had not appeared here before, you can get some idea of them by looking at the links on the two pages. The Sunday was rather cooler and cloudier, parts of the area (including us some 40 miles away) enjoyed welcome showers in late Saturday afternoon and again on Sunday morning. Choose the page you are interested in and within that, click on a thumbnail for a larger image. Then click again to return to the page. Marshall 37823 was operating a saw bench. I had seen it not far away at Ashby Magna the previous week. |
