Banbury (Bloxham) Steam Rally, (24th - 25th June, 2023)

We were somewhat disappointed with our visit to Banbury in 2022 and we made no attempt to include it in our trip to the Sheffield Rally in 2023. As things turned out, it was a better than average year with 32 full size engines and I would have had four new engines to boot. That's life, there's always next year. So the pictures here are from my trusty collaborator Paul Gilbey who attended on what appears to have been a generally dull Saturday.
Paul reported that some desirable improvements had not been made, there was again no programme and the only list of ring events he saw was by the pay gate which was some way from where any action would be. Nevertheless, there was a fair sized crowd present and a good range of traders even if, like most rallies, food prices were high. He commented that it felt much more like the old pre-Covid Bloxham, which might be enough to tempt me back next year.
I have noticed that few rallies offer 'entertainment' this year which is a real shame, I think the odd band / group / singer greatly adds to the 'party atmosphere' and at no great expense, similarly 'animal displays'..
