Sheffield Steam Rally (24th - 25th June, 2023) |

|
This is one of a series of pages I have uploaded to illustrate facets of the steam rallies we have attended in the UK. Click here for the 2023 introduction and overall index. We had intended to attend this event in 2022 but Covid got in the way. This is a show which has a relatively low profile and I wasn't really sure what to expect. In the event, it was a well organised traditional event with 32 full sized engines and well worth the affordable admission of £8 / £6. The weather was a mixture of sunshine and cloud and fortunately, despite the weekend closure of the M42 around Birmingham, we arrived just in time for the Grand Parade. Choose the page you are interested in and within that, click on a thumbnail for a larger image. Then click again to return to the page. There are few Garratt rollers to be seen at rallies and even fewer wagons, I believe this undertype variant of the latter is unique. All but one of the engines here were familiar but this was the delightful exception. I was told it doesn't get to many shows so if you want to see it, then probably this is the best place to do so. As for the rest, not unexpectedly they seem to appear regularly together across the area around. |
