Raj Steam - Pakistan Metre Gauge The metre gauge railway system described here is the western end of what was originally the Jodphur Bikaner Railway which was severed between Munabao and Kokhrapur at partition. The JBR was built west to Mirpur Khas whence there was already a broad gauge line on to Hyderabad, this was then converted to metre gauge. With the connection to India lost, it was later converted back to broad gauge. When the line on the Indian side was itself converted to broad gauge in the early 21st century, the main line in Pakistan was also converted and the other lines to the north and south abandoned. As can be seen from the dates, enthusiasts visited the system over a period of nearly 30 years during which time, it was effectively fossilised and as far as I know no diesel ever sullied the metre gauge rails.
