Within the berries was a hard nutty kernel which itself contained an oil. After cracking and extraction these were used to fuel the locomotives. At Dolok Ilir on 29th May 1977, workers were laboriously going through the fuel looking for uncrushed nuts while three Mallets waited for work. (RD)
