Primero de Mayo Mill |

Primero de Mayo (1st of May) Mill has a close working relationship with nearby Antonio Sánchez Mill and in recent years visitors have found it closed with cane being worked away to there and even Primero de Mayo's steam locomotives temporarily outstationed there. These two mills lie in the far west of Cienfuegos Province and are best visited at the same time as the steam mills in the east of Matanzas Province (Australia, Reynold García, René Fraga and Jesûs Rabí). The photographic attractions of Primero de Mayo's system are on the lines north through Aguada de Pasajeros. There is the possibility of a short stretch of street running in the town itself and there are two lines which cross the Havana - Santa Clara autopista. The one to the west runs under the road, that to the east runs over the top of it. All of these features are illustrated in this section, but with the current run down state of the industry in this area, the chances of future visitors being able to repeat the pictures is not good. |
