The south side of our house was due an 'extension', a modest affair which Yuehong had been after for a year or more, fortunately, if you play the game according to the rules you don't need planning permission.
The old wooden shed was fit only for burning, however, the wood from the 'walls' of the pergola were in much better shape and were recycled, cladding the ugly concrete brick wall:
After which a visit to the builders' merchants was needed to repeat the trick at the bottom of the steps.
