Thomas Kautzor presents his first formal reports of the Rahmi M Koç Museum, Istanbul
since May 2016 together with other attractions there. This page shows
preserved TCDD steam locomotives in and around the city.
Given that some elements will be of more interest than
others to visitors to these pages, I have broken them down into smaller
sections.
Below are pictures of Istanbul's steam locomotives and
news of historic stations there.

A new addition is TCDD 4-8-0 46018 (Henschel 22207/1932), which for many years had been stored at Halkali Station. By 11.2022 it was taken to Konya for restoration and is now on display at RMK Museum.

|
Another recent railway display at RMK Museum is TCDD 2-4-0 23004 (SS 3501/1888, ex ORC 20), formerly on display without a tender in front of Haydarpasa Station
(picture left) where completion of the restoration work is still halted by the digging out of
antiquities. It was transferred to Camlik Museum and reunited with its tender in 2019 and has been on loan
here since 02.2022.

Currently, Sirkeci Station on the European side is also being restored into a museum, with all more modern additions having been demolished, and TCDD 0-4-0T 2251 (Krauss 381/1874, ex CO 407) having been removed.
