After visiting the CIFVM La Poveda we continued to Alcazar de San Juan, where RENFE 030-2216 (Fives-Lille 2272/1880, ex MZA 408, ex CR-B 58) is plinthed outside a park.

We found that most of the stock at Mr. Luciano Vañó’s storage site in the town’s industrial area has either been scrapped on site or moved elsewhere. Remaining on site together FC Langreo 0-6-0T 16 (1435mm, Hohenzollern 292/1883) were two bogies, the cab and water tanks of CP Mallet E182 (Henschel 19827/1923) which is itself stored at the FGV’s Torrent workshops in Valencia (see http://www.locomotoravapor.com/fotosupload/valencia/malletLLV.jpg), and three trams or trailers.

We could not find any trace of CP 2-6-0T E95 (Decauville 591/1910, ex Val de Vouga), which was restored at Valencia in 1995 for use with the “Limon Express” on FGV’s Alicante – Denia line, but never steamed for more than tests. It is supposedly stored indoors at the tank car repair workshops next to the storage site.

The small railway museum at Alcazar station was already closed when we got there. RENFE 240-F-2244 (MTM 94/1921, ex MZA 1404) stood between the museum and the shed.

On display beside RENFE 040-2082 (Avonside 586/1865, ex NORTE 2582, ex ZPB 312, ex ZB 102) are diesel 0-4-0DM 301-020 (Macosa 173/1962, ex 10120) and railcar trailer FRI-301 (Uerdingen 1956). , where Swiss-built intermediate coach WR-703 (BR 437) and hand crane GM-952 (Macosa 1953) could be found. Large steam crane GM-33 (Zorroza 1931) was not seen and is probably stored at another location within the railway yard.

This is some the small steam equipment on display at the museum (the portable is marked “Cie. de Fives-Lille, France 1878”);

A Crossley internal combustion engine is on display in town.
