Steam in Bosnia, August 2000

Zoran Veresic reports on his latest visit with the DGEG group:

I was twice at Banovici coal mine on 02-04th August and 10-12th August 2000.

The coal mine finaly repaired big Skoda 19-12 and this loco is working at station Oskova. Reserve loco is 62-677, French one 144 R 03 is waiting to be sold. Fourth loco 62-125 is under major repair at Banovici depot (in the past loco repairs were done at Bukinje depo). Fifth loco 62-111 is now at coal mine Djurdjevik because this coal mine is no longer part of Banovici coal mine. On narrow gauge steam locos are still used for shunting and working locos are 83-158, and Skoda's 25-30, 31 & 33. 83-159 with tender 83-180 is waiting for repair, 83-180 and tender 83-159 is finally nearly finished for Austrian customer. Coal mine got from Zrenjanin factory complete vacuum brakes for this loco taken away from 83-173 in return for knorr brake from 83-180. So buth class 83 (from Banovici and Serbia) will be soon finished). Class 83 is working at end station Gljivice as shunting loco and Skodas are working at station Oskova and one Skoda loco is working in depot.
