Central Azucarera de Tarlac |

Central Azucarera de Tarlac was one of the larger mills on Luzon with a system that was built to the 'standard' Luzon gauge of 3ft 6in (1067mm), not least because that would have allowed easy interchange with the main line of the same gauge (of course this was a luxury that Negros never had). The mill itself is situated at San Miguel, about 120km north of Manila. There was a brief period in the 1980s when enthusiasts started to vist the mill in which steam always played second fiddle to diesels. With the downturn in the industry and the shift to road transport, the level of steam activity decreased and the eventual fate of the locomotives does not seem to have been recorded. |
