The MV Uhuru was also built in Scotland, by Yarrows of Glasgow, in 1966. Built as a rail wagon ferry it was laid up in Kisumu on 30th September 1977. By the mid-1990s, it was reported back in use based at Kisumu, working to both Uganda and Tanzania. (TB)
