Weeting Steam Rally 2017
Working Engines

This is one of a series of pages which I have uploaded to illustrate facets of steam rallies we have attended in the UK (since 2013). Such events occur all over the country in the summer months, they are easily found by using your favourite search engine and may have anything between a handful of steam engines and hundreds (as at the Great Dorset Steam Fair which could probably be fairly described as having an excess of riches). Click here for the Weeting index and click here for the overall 2017 index.

This was, quite simply, the best working area demonstration I have seen at a rally. I had brought my video camera in anticipation of this, but sadly, the overcast conditions while activity was occurring precluded its use.

Steam Ploughing

Fowlers 15453 and 15454 were working one of the longest hauls I have seen at a rally, said to be about 600 yards. The other equipment was 'stored' nearby.

The Farmyard

Shown are Burrell 2948, Ransomes, SIms and Jefferies 31298, Ruston Proctor 50278 and Burrell 1522, all working in the same enclosure.

Saw Benches

There were several engines engaged. The first row shows the unknown Marshall and Tuxford 1283 portables. The second row shows, Burrells 2425, 2921 and 4088 sawing while Burrell 3695 ferried in logs.

Stone Crushing and Road Making

A number of engines were active in a single enclosure. Allchin 1527, Burrell 2626 and Marshall portable 71725 are shown active. Also present were Marshall portable 45028, Garrett 33141 and Burrell roller 3994 shown in the appropriate other pages..
