FFF&B Ploughing Match and Country Show 2015
Working Steam

This is one of a series of pages which I have uploaded to illustrate facets of steam rallies we have attended in the UK. Such events occur all over the country in the summer months, they are easily found by using your favourite search engine and may have anything between a handful of steam engines and hundreds (as at the Great Dorset Steam Fair which could probably be fairly described as having an excess of riches). Click here for the FFFFB 2015 index and click here for the overall index for 2015.

The majority of the engines here were kept busy, but owing to their positioning photography was challenging. Beyond the steam, the competitive horse ploughing was a joy to behold. Not shown here was a working reed comber (with a tractor), these are rare beasts, the only previous one I had seen was at South Molton in 2014.

Steam Ploughing

The four Fowler ploughing engines were kept busy, given the favourable conditions they could have done with a rather larger plot. First the five furrow Fowler plough opened things up and then the Fowler cultivator zipped up and down. Two of these engines (14257 and 15673) can be seen performing with the same plough at Fairford in August 2015 on this YouTuve video- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGG8U_-Hzhs. If you look carefully you will see Yuehong 'guesting' as ballast on the plough in the first two pictures.
