Steam Working Weekend |

This is one of a series of pages I have uploaded to illustrate facets of the steam rallies we have attended in the UK. Click here for the 2023 introduction and overall index. Stotfold Mill is home to the Saunders Collection and each year it hosts a Spring gathering and an autumn 'Working Weekend' which showcases steam engines in the environment in which they earned their living. Now if only it was possible to combine this event with the Turvey Rally, which most of these engines attended too in 2023, then they would have a mini GDSF... I am delighted to present these pictures from fellow enthusiast Paul Gilbey who, living on the opposite side of the country tends to get to a slightly different mix of events from me. It was obviously a well organised and executed event but as it's too far from here for a day trip then I'll have to again be satisfied for a 'virtual' visit. Paul says: "Another good working weekend at Stotfold Mill with good public attendance and lovely warm weather. There were two sets of ploughing engines, two thrashing drums, two saw benches, one frame saw, flour milling and stone crushing. There were also stationary engines, ploughing by shire horses, a large craft tent and a display of veteran vehicles. The water mill was also open and working. Finally several vintage tractors were also able to plough on a separate field." Choose the page you are interested in and within that, click on a thumbnail for a larger image.
