Malpas Yesteryear Rally (6th - 7th September, 2025) |

|
This is one of a series of pages I have uploaded to illustrate facets of the steam rallies we have attended in the UK. Click here for the 2025 introduction and overall index. This was the 50th such event and the organisers were advertising 'almost 50 engines' or similar. I knew from experience that this was unlikely to be achieved and although it's 100 miles from home, it's a very pleasant drive through the Marches, especially with Yuehong to share the driving. We also knew that there was a good chance that it might turn out to be Shrewsbury on a smaller scale (like Fairford and South Cerney) but the forecast was excellent... In the event they made 41 engines of which 9 were not at Shrewsbury and 5 of these were 'new' for me. So my only complaint was about the weather (forecast); it didn't rain but the first time we saw a bright sun was when we drove through Much Marcle on the return journey when we were almost home, although you might not guess that from the photographs. Overall we both enjoyed a pleasant day out and the usual idiot BMW drivers and their friends in Audis in a hurry on the A49 didn't spoil it.
