Herts Steam and Country Show (1st - 2nd June, 2024)

Paul Gilbey writes - "Here are my photos from the Hertfordshire Steam and Country Show 2024. It was a cold and overcast day and visitor numbers were down due to the weather. 31 full size engines were listed in the programme of which just 22 and one additional engine appeared. It's a great shame that the number of no shows was so high, but with owners having to bear the cost of getting the engines to the rally it is only to be expected. Plenty of movement though throughout the day. Entry price included a free programme which gave potted histories of the engines."
Well, organisers can't do too much about the weather (and I believe it was better on Sunday) but they can manage their exhibitors better. This rally is always going to seem like 'Old Warden light' and it will need a bit more imagination to make it a distinctive offering, it seems that the site has great potential.
