Herts Steam and Country Show (3rd - 4th June, 2023)

This is one of a series of pages I have uploaded to illustrate facets of the steam rallies we have attended in the UK. Click here for the 2023 introduction and overall index.

Paul Gilbey writes - "This was the Hertfordshire Steam Engine Preservation Society's first rally for 4 years and the first on the new site in Letchworth. The rally field is large with room for expansion. The Crowds were smallish on Saturday but were much better on the Sunday I was told. The highlight of the show was the first appearance in 25 years of Marshall 83901 which was one of Luton's fleet of road rollers. The engine was part of Ted Wooton's collection, most of the engines in that collection have now been sold. The Aveling Roller 7385 now has a canopy, the first time it has had one since it was removed when purchased from Taylors of Wimbish by Oxford Council who had a policy of providing the engine drivers with a waterproof coat."
