As Lawrence Marshall wrote of the 1st Great Indian Train Journey visit "Our request to have the engines at Naupada looking nice' produced a horrendous response albeit well intended" This was PL 0-6-4T 693 at Naupada shed on 13th November 1978. With just two trains a day each way and a generous allocation of 8 locomotives, the staff obviously had time on their hands and the loco foreman had kept them busier than usual! (BM)
