Mining ceased in September 1970 and by 11th April 1971, the steam locomotives had not so much been kicked into the long grass at Bukit Besi as abandoned to the undergrowth. Five were known to have survived until 1967,  6, 7, 8, 13 and 16, the last of which was not seen during this visit. (JB)
