The Cepu Forestry Railway

The teak logs are extremely heavy and to get them on to the train requires a full team of workers to roll them up one at a time. The team chant traditional Javanese work songs as they go about their business on 19th August 1986. This was my first visit to the forest proper and my family and I were enchanted by it. (RD)
