Gempol Sugar Mill 12

Gempol Sugar Mill 12

Gempol Sugar Mill was about 20km west of Cirebon in West Java. It operated a railway of 700mm gauge until the mill closed at the end of the 1994 season and was later demolished. Gempol 12 was built by Henschel (10437/1911) and typical of the majority of these locomotives being a 0-8-0T. There are a large number of sugar mills in Java, mainly in Central and East Java. For more information on those still working and their locomotives, check out Steam Locomotives in Java.
