CC5001

CC5001 was constructed by Werkspoor (558/1928) although others were built by Schweizerische Lokomotiv- und Maschinenfabrik ( SLM). It was originally Staats Spoorwegen 1601. This 2-6-6-0 Mallet had two outside cylinders 420 x 610 mm (high pressure) and two outside cylinders 650 x 610 mm (low pressure) with driving wheel diameter of 1106 mm. Boiler pressure was 14.0 kg/cm2, grate area 3.4 m2 with a heating surface of 150.8 m2 and a superheater surface of 50.0 m2. Overall weight was 73.5 tons with 66.0 tons available for adhesion. CC5001 is preserved at Taman Mini near Jakarta. In the 1970s, these locomotives were most notably based at Cibatu in West Java, although they were also found at other depots all along the line between Bandung and Surabaya.
