WP 7161 at Delhi Cantonment, 24th March 2012

A winter season of fortnightly steam hauled trains between Delhi Cantonment and Alwar via Rewari came to an end in late March 2012. James Billingham was there to see WP 7161 take the excursion out:

WP 7161 now bears the name "Akbar" presumably after the great Mughal Emperor. Breakfast was warming on the footplate:

There is a long Indian tradition of decorating special steam locomotives, this is a rather modest example compared to some:

Despite the later date, it was still cool enough for some steam effects during the departure:
