Wiston Steam Rally (11th - 12th July, 2015)

This is one of a series of pages I have uploaded to illustrate facets of the steam rallies we have attended in the UK. Click here for the 2015 introduction and overall index.

Someone described a previous Wiston Steam Rally as "very much back to the atmosphere of rallies in the 1970's". I spent most of the 1970s in Malaysia so I can't comment from experience, what I can say is that we had a lovely day out. The setting is excellent and there was plenty of space for engines and people to move around. There were several 'working engine' displays which were great to photograph but less satisfactory for video owing to Sod's Law. It's a relatively new show but one that is clearly on the Up, we look forward to returning in 2 or 3 years time. The West Sussex roads are such that it's a very long day out from home in the Forest of Dean. Of the 28 engines in the programme, there were 2 no shows, more than compensated for by 8 late entries.

David Collidge's Steam Scenes website (http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/) is a fount of information and was a great help in compiling these pages.
