Tinkers Park Steam Rally, (30th - 31st May, 2015)

This is one of a series of pages I have uploaded to illustrate facets of the steam rallies we have attended in the UK. Click here for the 2015 introduction and overall index.

Tinkers Park is home to the Claude Jessett collection which is now held by a private trust bearing his name ( and this was the 50th annual rally on the site. It was a wonderfully atmospheric event although challenging for photography as the sun was fleeting on the Saturday, at least until 14.30 when Yuehong declared she was 'cold' and I was dragged off. Nothing can be done about the way they marvellously managed to cram a 'quart into a pint pot' but additionally, with the site on a hill sloping to the south, the engines almost invariably faced north most of the time. I think they could do with a weekend with a JCB when no-one is looking to level the area where at least half the engines park up next to each other.
