The International Steam Pages

Torbay Steam Fair (31st July - 2nd August, 2015)

This is one of a series of pages I have uploaded to illustrate facets of the steam rallies we have attended in the UK. Click here for the 2015 introduction and overall index.

Looking back to 2014, Torbay had been one of our best visits and will probably prove to have been the only rally we have been to in both 2014 and 2015 which is more than 100 miles from home. We had done extremely well at South Cerney on the Friday, had taken a rest on the Saturday (after last year's experience there was no way we would have used the M5 then) and left home just before 08.00 on Sunday getting to the showground some 3 hours later, the only traffic problems all being in the Torbay area owing to road works. Suffice to say we were not disappointed, the people running this show have got it right in my book. Steam is king and they display it imaginatively. The working areas were exceptionally strong and an innovation this year was the opportunity for engines to take a run at 'The Hill', a few took a load up.

There were almost 30 engines but as we had been here the previous year, there were relatively few we had not seen before.
