B2501

B2501 was built by Esslingen (3242/1902). It was delivered as Nederlands Indische Spoorweg Mij 231. This 0-4-2 tank locomotive was a rack and adhesion compound. The two 'normal' outside cylinders were 340 x 450 mm and when working on the rack the two low pressure 390 x 450 mm cylinders could be switched in.  Driving wheel diameter was 853 mm. Boiler pressure was 12.7 kg/cm2, grate area 1.5 m2 with a heating surface of 63.2 m2. Overall weight was 31.0 tons with 21.1 tons available for adhesion. All these locomotives were based at Ambarawa for the section south to Secang. B2501 is preserved at the Ambarawa Military Museum.
